The Cotman Project
Inkwell is embarking on a journey. We’re responding to the British watercolour artist John Sell Cotman and invite you to join us for a series of workshops this summer.
Working with Leeds Art gallery and Leeds Museums we have been priviledged enough to see some of his prized etchings and paintings in the flesh. The Cotman project will help artists create new work that could be exhibited as part of our Light Night celebrations and be part of an exhibition at Inkwell during the Love Arts Festival in October.

Kirkstall Abbey Site Visit and Workshop
Join artists Kevin Hickson and Beth Smith and visit Kirkstall Abbey for this special one day creative workshop. We will be making drawings, sketches and paintings using the ruins of this famous landmark as inspiration. Cotman visited Yoprkshire and it’s famous historical buildings on many occasions. Kirkstall Abbey and it’s beautiful grounds have been the subject for many of his study sketches and paintings.

Printing and Painting Workshop
A three week course with Kevin Hickson and Beth Smith
Join us for a three week course in watercolour and printing. Using sketches and studies you may have made on the Kirkstall Abbey trip or use photographs and Cotman etcings as inspiration.
Our two most popular artists: Kevin Hickson and Beth Smith will teach you how to create dry point etchings and watercolours to stunning effects.
Session 1: Weds June 14th - 12.30pm -3.30pm
Session 2: Weds June 21st - 12.30pm -3.30pm
Session 3: Weds June 28th - 12.30pm -3.30pm
