Arts and Crafts Fair

Last Saturday 14th December we held our first ever Saturday Arts and Craft sale at our special Festive Cafe event.

The day’s relaxed and up-tempo vibe was created by the cool live acoustic set played by Chris Ely introduced to us by Cloth Cat. There was also an abundance of handmade ceramics, jewellery, textiles and drawings in our art room which was transformed into a heavenly bazaar of beautifully crafted goods and fairy lights. We were thrilled at how many people came along to browse all the gorgeous work created by our artists, and many left contented that they had found that perfect gift for Christmas.

Hannah, our talented volunteer baker who makes our homemade cakes for the Cafe had created a work of art herself! Her rainbow cake was a great hit with the children and had a whole nine layers of rainbow coloured sponge!

Beth Smith and Kevin Hickson were also part of the art fair, with more delicious work on offer that hadn’t found room in their current exhibition at Inkwell.

The craft fair was a pilot set up to trial the feasibility of regular art and craft sales to be held on Saturdays and due to the overall success of last weekend we are excited and already looking forward to the next one also offering more artists an opportunity to showcase their work. It is clear that creativity and making the work can have such powerful therapeutic benefits and displaying finished work completes that rewarding creative process.
