It was a freezing cold Friday night on the 7th December, the sort of weather that would make you want to stay tucked up indoors. However, it seems the popularity of our Instrumental Acoustic nights are a big draw for people to venture out and come to Inkwell to listen to beautiful music and soak up the atmosphere.
Organised by Cloth Cat and Arts and Minds, this months line up was made up of talented solo artists and bands. The lights were dimmed and the fairy lights provided an ambient back drop for the evening to begin.
Opening the show was a young man whose dulcet tones reminded me of Jeff Buckley with a raw soulful twist. Joe Kemp was the perfect opening to what would turn out to be a wonderful evening. His music was unique, beautiful and inspirational.

A hard act to follow? but not for the sweet sounds of Steph Stephenson, who was accompanied by her boyfriend on vocals and the Mandolin who played original songs written by them both.

Matt Bentley, a very talented and accomplished musician gave a really strong and flawless performance. Matt has been on the folk circuit for many years now and has several albums under his belt. You can read more about him in this interview with Leeds Guide and was the last of the solo musicians to play that night.
The Black Soxs, a local band from Chapel Allerton provided us with some more up tempo songs as the evening started to get into full swing. The Real Ale provided by Ridgeside Brewery was once again very popular with the guests.
The final band on stage were a very talented teenage rock band called The Disguises who played original and cover versions. The three ‘acoustically’ minded members played chilled out version of songs that drew the evening to a perfect conclusion.
