We would like to say a huge thankyou to all those who came over on the 13th April for the preview night of Brenda’s show. The show was a complete success and a glorious night celebrating the work of one of our lovely artists - Brenda Briggs. The friendly and warm atmosphere, lovely artwork, wine and nibbles all added to make an unforgettable evening.
Brenda’s inspiration from her love of nature, plants and country walks was evident in the beautiful work that was on display. Jewels of colour and intricate patterns and textures sit amongst gentle neutral tones in her abstract paintings and prints.

The exhibtion space looked stunning with all the work up on the walls. Fresh flowers adorned the tables and the drinks and nibbles were all prepared. Inkwell was ready to host another evening to remember. Brenda was feeling a little nervous as this was her first solo show but when the doors opened at 6pm, guests, friends and family and fellow art lovers started to arrive. Before long the space was full and the atmosphere was glowing. The evening was such a fun night and real celebration of Brenda’s acheivements over the last few years. Needless to say, Brenda made the perfect host and soon settled into what she called’ one of the best nights of her life’.
The new serving bar that had been built for us was also getting it’s first exhibtion showing too, serving nibbles and wine which were all thoroughly enjoyed!
As this was Brenda’s first solo show all of us at Inkwell were so proud and priviledged to be a part of her incredible journey. A highlight of the evening, apart from the beautiful artwork, were speeches made by Mark Cruse and Kevin Hickson who have both tutored Brenda while at Inkwell. The evening was also an emotional and poignant remembrance of a dear friend- Matthew Starkey - who we sadly lost last month. Matthew was a well loved, valued member and volunteer at Inkwell and Brenda dedicated her show to him.
The exhibition soon fills up with guests.
Brenda’s show will stay open until the 25th May so please feel free to come down and have a look at the wonderful work that is on show. Everybody is very welcome.
