Jazz on Saturdays

In collaboration with local jazz musicians and Seven Jazz we bring you monthly live Jazz on Saturday lunchtimes, playing foot tapping well known jazz tunes in our main gallery space. Our Saturday Cafe serves delicious homemade lunches until 3pm and afternoon tea and homemade cakes until 4pm.

Terri Shaltiel & Esmond Selwyn Duo

Israeli born, with Spanish/Turkish heritage alongside a Yorkshire accent, songstress Terri Shaltiel has been touring the gig circuit for a few years to critical acclaim. Described by Ian Shaw as ‘a phenomenal soul blues singer – world class’ and Craig Charles (BBC Radio, Funk and Soul Show) as having ‘Cool tunes and what a great voice!’

Esmond Selwyn has long been recognised as one of the UK’s greatest performing jazz guitarists and jazz educators. He has appeared on the same bill as Elvin Jones, Charlie Byrd and has personally accompanied American jazz giants Art Farmer, Al Cohn and Jimmy Witherspoon.

Sunday Jazz Cafe

In partnership with Seven Jazz

teaming up with Seven Jazz means Sunday afternoons at Inkwell are a great way to wind down your weekend. With top jazz musicians performing live in our art space, we serve great coffees and tasty simple meals during the sessions. Seven jazz is an independent voluntary music provider based in Chapel Allerton run by volunteers and music lovers.

Various Sundays
£7/£5 concessions, under sixteen’s free.
The doors open at 1pm, music starts 1.30-4pm.

Nicki is a well-known jazz singer and music educator. Nicki’s ability to interpret Jazz Classics effortlessly and stylishly has made her a well-respected Jazz singer over recent years.  She was awarded Jazz Yorkshire Vocalist of the year 2011. She works regularly with her Jazz Quartet“Orca” who perform at gigs & festivals throughout the year and currently has two albums out.  She is a regular Big Band Vocalist with The Manhattan Sound Big Band and the Ronnie Bottomley Jazz Orchestra, a solo piano vocalist with a weekly residency at the Harrogate Brasserie, a Recording Artist and Session Singer, a Jazz and Pop Singing Tutor and Voice Coach at the Royal Northern College of Music, and has toured around the world singing on cruise ships.

“Once in a while along comes the ‘complete vocalist, that rare and talented individual who can take any style and turn it effortlessly into their own.
