Working on the potters wheel is fast, messy and unpredicatable! That’s what makes it so much fun, and an activity we are sure you will enjoy!
You will be able to book a 30 minute session working 1-2-1 with a tutor on the potters wheel. 3 time slots are available on this day. We suggest that you get to the venue 10 minutes before your alloted time. Maybe grab a coffee at the Inkwell Cafe, watch the wheel in action and pick up some tips!
You will have the opportuinty to create a bowl, vase or both. You can make as many items as you like within your 30 minutes, and we will glaze and fire your best 3 creations. We use red teracotta clay, to which you can add a very simple splash of colour using a brush, but as the clay is wet and delicate when first thrown, it will need to literally be a brush stroke or two! You have the choice of pale blue, green, white or yellow all of which look great in contrast with the red clay once glazed and fired.
Your work will need to dry out for a week and then it will be fired in a kiln. A clear glaze will then be applied and it will be fired again. Work will be taken back to Inkwell and can be collected within 2 weeks.
You will be able to collect your finished work on Saturday 9th December between 1.30pm -4.00pm Just in time for CHRISTMAS!
